Sorry friends, had a busy weekend with friends in town and birthday parties. Here are my thoughts on the top 8 show:

Two performances! One with an All-Star they haven't danced with before and a fellow contestant! I love that!

Oh, Alex! No performance! I thought he would still be ok. Then they explained he could be automatically out, which makes sense. Of course, he started crying again!

Lauren&Pasha- Time to get sexy Lauren! Love Lady Gaga and Beyonce. Started off hot! Sexy outfit! GREAT! I think Lauren'ts back! I agreed with Nigel that she matured. At one point she was kind of leading. It is hard for contemporary dancers to not lead.

*My favorite dance of the night!

Jose&Lauren- Contemporary. Jose is sloppy. Loved the leg lift that they did! I was ready for Jose to go home at this point. Hubby thinks he looks like a chipmunk. I agree.

Ken&Comfort- hip hop. Oh geez. Can't Kent get a break! Before Cat or Nigel said anything, I said he looks like Justin Timberlake. Fox, I'm available for any job. How did he keep his hat on during flips? He grew up this week too! I loved the butt smack!

Adechike&Courtney- Jazz. Love that it is set at a bar during last call. Courtney's gold costume? Was that from the 80's? Adechike is still struggling with chemistry. I won't miss him if he goes home. The audience barely cheered for them. Disagree with Nigel that he was good. Agree with Mia that it was mediocre.

Billy&Allison- Allison left and Katie came! Love Katie! Broadway-love cats! I think Billy just danced it. No burglar character. Disagree with all the judges that this is the best Billy has danced.

Ashley&Dominic(ugh)-hip hop. What are those pants Ashley was wearing? I saw no ninjas fighting each other. I love Nappy Tabs but I think part of the problem was the choreography.

Robert&Kathryn- Poor Robert, he messed up the lift. I was worried Robert would go home this week. So glad he wasn't even in the bottom three!! I can't believe people think he is arrogant!

Adechike-Bollywood. Really good! So fast! I disagree that it let him down like Nigel said.

Lauren&Kent- Love that Travis choreographed this! Their technique was incredible! I agree with Nigel. The combination of all three was amazing! They are the ultimate male and female dancers!

Robert&Ashley- I wish Sonya choreographed a routine for them. I don't know why the producers gave them quickstep (aka kiss of death?!). The producers had to coordinate the routines this week for it all to work out. I really don't think it is fair to give Kent and Lauren a Travis Wall routine and then give Robert and Ashley quickstep. I have never seen a quickstep done correctly so it looked good to me but I was sure Nigel would hate it.

Billy&Jose- I like how Jose's hip hop and Billy's contemporary were incorporated into it. did not enjoy the awkward lifts or the bite. Agree with Nigel it wasn't powerful enough.

Too bad Alex was too badly injured to stay in the competition. I was surprised Billy and Ashley were in the bottom three. They need to step up their game! Do you think Alex will come back next year?

Wardrobe malfunctions and hungry jazz faces

I think we all know I want Melinda to go home! I was planning to stay up and watch the whole show and vote for Robert but Hubby wanted to go to bed earlier. So I told him if Robert goes home I blame him!

First up was Adechike and Lauren doing Hip Hop. When I heard about this combo doing this style I said, "What?!" I thought it was good, not great. I didn't see the chemistry. I disagree with Nigel saying his personality was brought out and that there was great chemistry. What did you think?

Next was Ashley and Ade doing contemporary. I was anticipating this routine to be good. I love seeing new choreographers!
*Someone should choreograph a routine to the song in Eclipse during "you know what".
What talents do you think Ashley showed us she had with this routine? I think acting and being thrown. I don't think it showed her dance talent. I agree with Nigel when he said, "The steps didn't get in the way."

At this point in the evening I realized Dominic wasn't going to be on the show! Wahoo!

Then there were some solos. Billy put his leg up in the air and Jose spun on his head. Next!

*My favorite dance- Robert and Courtney, Jazz, LOVE! Sonya! Yes! I love that she wanted to show off Robert's talent. I think she did an amazing job doing it. So Great! Did you notice how the judges couldn't compliment Ashley and Adechike enough and barely complimented Robert?!


Melinda and Pasha did their Salsa. I thought it was going to be a disaster and then she said she was Colombian and salsaed her whole life! I got a little nervous until Pasha tried to pick her up. Those tap legs are too muscular for lifting still. I feel like she was playing up the audience and would almost forget Pasha was there. Most women wouldn't be thinking of anything but Pasha! I agree with what the judges said about the dance being awkward and that she was drowning.

*Best moment of the night- When Mia said it was a mistake to get rid of Christina! Then Adam agreed!!! Did your jaw drop to the floor like mine?

Then Kent did his solo. I thought to myself, "Now that is a solo!" His solo was PERFECTION! Every breath, every moment!

Next up was Alex's solo. He really surprised me with this solo. I think he at least deserved to be top 4.

Then they gave me some Lauren and Neil Broadway! Loved it!
*Another jaw dropping moment- When her dress broke and there was almost a nipple slip!
I agree with Nigel that I didn't always feel the chemistry. I just keep wanting Lauren that did her solo to "Let's get it on" to come back!

Where is she?

Billy and Catherine, Contemporary. All I thought was Catherine is amazing! I don't think the piece was all that Stacey Tookie wanted it to be. I think the concept of someone leaving someone is a little overdone and honestly you couldn't really tell what was going on when watching it. I agree with Nigel that Billy needs to figure out the acting part.

Robert's solo was GREAT!

Jose and Anya Samba. Anya is awesome and I guess Jose did good considering it isn't his style. It was great to see Dmitry! I agree with Nigel that Jose isn't the best dancer on the show. But I disagree that he has "it".

Kent and Allison Jazz! I thought it was good. I think the judges were too hard on him and his "hungry jazz face". I think he had it at points but there were other moments that were great! What do you think?

Alex and Twitch Hip Hop. I thought this was going to be a total disaster. When Alex started dancing I saw no trace of a ballet dancer on that stage! I thought Napoleon and Tabitha were going to play up his ballet side with the choreography but I'm so proud of them that they didn't and so proud of Alex that he was able to do the routine!

Nigel mentioned people don't like the format of having the all stars. I LOVE it! What do you guys think?

SYTYCD 6/23 and 6/24

Pasha and Cristina- Paso Doble- Thought it was going to be really good. Cristina was making scary faces. Can you tell in the picture? Didn't see any chemistry. Disagreed with the judges who loved it.

Takeachike and Allison- Contemporary- Good song! He tried to smile more but wasn't enough. LOVE ALLISON!

I'm glad that all stars stood next to them this week.

Alex and Lauren (LOVE)- Broadway- Going to be good! Very good! He did better keeping his eyes open.

Ashley-Travis-Mark-LOVE! Beautiful! That was supposed to be jazz?

Billy-Krumping? Wow! Wasn't nasty or hard enough!

Robert-Anya- Definitely had the hot chemistry. He was doing some weird counting or breathing. I also think he missed a turn.

Yuck Melinda and Ade- She just looked big and heavy. Very different than Ashely looked in her routine.

Jose and Catherine- Love his smile he needs a new hair do! His arms were lazy.

Lauren and Annoying- New choreographer that I like! I liked the choreography but I don't think he conveyed the whole abuse message.

I can't believe Robert was in the bottom 3! I might actually have to start watching the night that it is on and vote. I don't want to lose Robert!

I was surprised Nigel said he didn't want to keep Melinda. She should be gone by next week.

I loved Billy and Lauren's footloose routine! Can we say perfection?

I was bummed the choreographers weren't sitting by the judges.

I love Mia's critiques! And Adams!

I already saw on Think Happy Thoughts that the judges kept Cristina. Um, she is not a good singer! So I thought she wouldn't be good after reading that Mrs. Bear wasn't happy they kept her. But I love Mark doing a Sonya routine and I think Cristina held her own!

Jose- The break that does yoga? He got lucky he picked hip-hop. He struggled with the choreography and staying in character. He will be gone after he has to do something else.

Katherine doing a Travis routine! Loves it! I think there was a guy in the routine, he was forgettable.

Oh God, Melinda. I have to force myself to watch. Soap actress and guitar player, triple threat! She was anticipating, showing what she is going to do next. When dancers do that it breaks the naturalness/chemistry. I thought she thought Pasha was hot. It wasn't sexy!

Alex- Again, not a good singer. Alex+Allison+Sonya=amazing or should I say Hallelujah! Not being racist or anything, but because Alex is Asian he needs to open his eyes bigger so it doesn't look like his eyes are closed the whole time. I watched this routine twice! How many times has Alex cried? I mean I cried too, but he cries nonstop!

Alexie- Shut up at Adam on star search! Love the Jason Mraz song. Her body movements had chemistry but it wasn't in her eyes.

LAUREN!- She was smiling too much but it was still amazing!

Awww Kent!- 14 other guys and Kent was homecoming king! So cute! Anya is too much woman for him! He opened his mouth too much and was feminine. I kept comparing him to Pasha. Pasha would have done the routine a lot differently. But I still love Kent!

Oh Neil! Ok Ashley did good I wish Lauren picked that routine.


Robert- Kourtney! I could watch them all day! He needed to be a little wilder/animalistic.

I thought Melinda would go home.

I love the new choreographer for the group routine on Thursday!

Bottom three:
I thought Kent and Lauren were both safe!

Melinda-obvs

Billy knew he was safe and needs to whiten his teeth and stop trying to grow a stache!

Alexie- I thought Ashley should have been in bottom three.

Cristina- Didn't deserve to be in bottom three.

I can't tap and I think Melinda is awesome at it, but tappers often don't do other styles well.

Alexie- good solo!

Again, I can't do salsa and I think Cristina is awesome at and showed Wednesday that she could do other stuff.

Nigel loves tap. Only reason Melinda stayed.

I think I like the choreographers sitting by the judges. I love to hear from the choreographers!

Loved Kent and Lauren dancing a Travis Wall routine!!

Anyone cringe when Cat asked Kent what his type of woman was? Um, Cat...don't know if he likes women!

The tapper Melinda surprised me. She wasn't as bad as I thought she would be.

Mia's routine with the young man. man in his prime, and old man was really good!

Robert surprised me too. So glad Neil and Courtney are back!

I wish they had let all three judges talk. I'm so confused how the regular season is going to go.

OMG! Do you guys despise Dominick yet?!

Let's discuss last night's show.

I was so glad that poof hair girl got cut!

I was a super huge Adrian Lee fan. He is amazing and from San Diego. I was SHOCKED that he didn't make top 11!!

Another shocker was Anthony Burrell! What were they thinking?!

Top 11

1. Christina-ballroom

2. Lauren F.-LOVE HER!!!

3. Ashley- who is she? why is she on the show? she is the girl in the pic, I figured might as well put her pic this week since she gets kicked off tonight!

4. Jose- really? him? not Adrian or Anthony?

5. Tap girl- gets cut tonight I'm sure!

6. Alex Wong- I really don't think he deserves this spot. I hope they cut him after all these terrible girls. I don't know how they are cutting this season.

7. Adechike- he deserves to be on the show

8. Kent Boyd-LOVE HIM!

9. Alexie- she is my 2nd favorite girl and really like her name

10. Billy Bell- duh, so stupid they tried to pretend he wasn't on the show.

11. Robert- I don't remember him from earlier, but he might be ok.

I was super bitter watching this!

I am predicting top 6 is

Robert, Billy, Kent, Adechike, Lauren, and Alexie

Top 4 which is usually how many are still around at the finale probably Lauren, Alexie, Kent and Billy.

I hope Ryan Ramirez, Adrian and Anthony come back next year!

Wednesday night they had auditions in L.A. and Chicago.
Loves it!
-Lauren F. the first girl that danced to Let's Get it On! Amazing!
-Ryan Ramirez was a curly haired blonde that assisted for Mia. Again, amazing!
-Kent Boyd from Wapakoneta, Ohio. I love me a spinner like Travis Wall!
-Adrian Lee from SAN DIEGO yellow and gray striped tank. UH MAZ ING!
-Kellen Borchers danced to Danity Kane's song Damaged in jeans. He is another that has stolen some of Hubby's moves. I put him in loves it because he seems like a sweetheart.

WTF?!!

-Tiny man with yellow vest aka HELLA HUNG?! LOL! He was sweating a lot and he called it "manly juice" Was he a midget? Nice gold pants!
-Hick hop? The girl with the leather vest and afro. I felt bad for her when they were laughing at her and she was completely serious.
-Guys in L.A.? Not good? WTF?!

Good:
-Rachel Girma-rhythmic gymnast
-Andrew Phillips had a twin in a wheelchair. I loved his music choice "You're the reason I come home".
-Jarrod Mayo came with his mom and danced to "Amazing" by Kayne.
-Lots of good contemporary girls! Hopefully one is the winner!

No one was HOT on Wednesday night. Bummer!

Jarrell Robinson the deaf dancer was such an inspiration!

Somehow I got my days messed up. Maybe having Monday off threw me more than I thought! I have watched all the way up to ballroom in Vegas.

I was surprised they only found 7 people in Nashville!

What is up with the ballroom choreographer? They called her a Nazi Barbie or something. I have never had to choreograph that many people, but I have taught a class of sixth graders and it has got to be pretty similar. You don't usually win people over or get their attention by screaming at them!

Oh yeah, I am so excited Billy Bell is back! Kid needs help with his acne, but man he can dance! I don't remember Andrew Wong but he is also very talented! Loving Anthony Burrell still!

+Teddy Tedholm-he auditioned in a nerdy yellow outfit last season. Kind of annoying that Adam and Mia are the judges cause they cry way too much!
+1-2-3 Party! They totally stole Hubby's dance moves. Adam had a scary reaction when the guy didn't know who he was.

+Locking/Mime People- He had Nigel on his hat. It was kind of cool but they need to get better outfits and learn how to do choreography.

What are they going to do without Mary Murphy? She is the only one that knows ballroom. I like her comments because I know nothing about ballroom!

I know I have said I was going to do this post for two weeks. It is really happening this week! The post is written and scheduled!



Don’t forget to watch the start of season 7 So You Think You Can Dance on Thursday on FOX! I will be doing SYTYCD posts on Fridays. This is my favorite reality show. I like to think since I was a dancer for most of my life I have a little bit of an expert opinion. I’m sure there will also be tons of new dances that I know nothing about like they had in past seasons. Definitely not an expert on Baliwood or any of the ballroom stuff.



New stuff this season: This season, the competition is the toughest it has ever been as the judges - Nigel Lythgoe, Mia Michaels and Adam Shankman - will pick only 10 dancers (five guys and five girls) - from the thousands that auditioned - to compete for the title of America 's Favorite Dancer. They usually start with a top 20 and cut two dancers a week. No Mary Murphy? Hallelujah! In the past they also partner up the top 20. This season, the competitors will be partnered each week with a different SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE All-Star dancer - former SYTYCD finalists skilled in various dance styles. The Season Seven All-Star Dance Partners who will perform within their specific genres are: Stephen "tWitch" Boss, Comfort Fedoke, Courtney Galiano, Anya Garnis, Lauren Gottlieb, Neil Haskell, Allison Holker, Mark Kanemura, Pasha Kovalev, Kathryn McCormick, Ade Obayomi and Dominic "D-trix" Sandoval. Dominic is from my hometown and I cannot stand him! I like the rest of the all stars.



Let me refresh your memory on past seasons or catch you up! I didn’t watch season 1, Nick Lazzarini won, he was a lyrical dancer. He hasn’t been around much on the show since. I am sure I would have been a big fan of his. Season 2 Benji Schwimmer won, he was a ballroom dancer. I am a HUGE fan of Travis Wall, Season 2’s runner up, and a lyrical dancer. He choreographs a lot for the show and I love everything he does! Season 3 Sabra Johnson won. I was a fan of Travis Wall #2 aka Neil Haskell. He got third place. I am definitely excited that he is going to be on the show this season as an all-star. Season 4 Joshua Allen won. I honestly can’t remember who I liked that season! Season 5 Jeanine Mason won. That season our friends all did a draft of the top 20. We all put in $5 to give to whoever picked the winner. Hubby picked Jeanine! She was definitely a surprise win. My favorite that season was Evan. I loved his old school style and adorable smile. He got third place. Season 6 Russell Ferguson won. In season 6 there were 6 finalists instead of 4. Married couple Ashley and Ryan were 5th and 6th place. I liked them a lot. Jakob Karr another blonde male lyrical dancer (sensing a pattern in my faves yet?) was my favorite and by far the most talented! He was AMAZING!

I think we are due for one of my favorites to win this season!
