Top Two Tuesday!

My dvr twin came up with the topic for this week's top 2 tuesday so I had to participate even though my indulgences are super lame!

Top 2 Biggest Indulgences!

1. Going out to restaurants

Hubby and I love good food. We probably spend $150 to $200 a month at restaurants. So we definitely don't over indulge but that is probably our one area Suze Orman would suggest cutting back in.

Look its a baby Hubby and baby Megs circa 2005. I thought I would post a litle flasback for ya. This is Hubby and I after about a year and a half of dating. My parents took us to Hawaii. I believe this picture is us at the famous Duke's. I know I'm a spoiled only child, deal with it. Hubby was the first boyfriend they spoiled. You know the saying, when you know, you know. It works with parents too. They knew.

2. Cable TV

You guys all know I'm addicted to the tv and can't live without it. I told you guys they weren't too exciting but these are two things we spend a chunk of change on that we could obviously cut back on. But I don't want to live with out my dvr!

I couldn't find a picture of my watching tv or sitting on our couches. So here is me on my cousin's couch. That's my "nephew" about 2 years ago! He doesn't cuddle like that anymore :( he's a big boy but he likes to play with me cause I change the settings on his toys to spanish cause I'm weird.

Top 2 Tuesday

Top 2 favorite things about summer:

1. Beach Days

We live about 20 mins from the beach. I tell myself if we lived closer I would be at the beach every day. I would run at the beach, do yoga at the beach, and lay out. IDK if this would really happen, but let’s pretend.

Not being walking distance from the beach makes things a little more difficult. You have to pack up all your stuff and possibly food and find a parking spot. That usually means going to the grocery store and having the necessary beach foods (sandwiches and chips and Gatorade) and waking up early enough to get parking.

If I am going to do all this preparation, I want to get a tan. This requires wearing a bikini. I am a freak of nature and always cold. I learned this when I asked what temp people keep their houses at on twitter and their responses were a lot lower than our 70-73 range. (This weekend we woke up and it was 69 and turned on the heater.) In our 70-73 degree house I wear sweatshirts and put blankets on. (I told you guys, weirdo!) So if I am going to wear a bikini I’m going to need my beach like 80. That doesn’t happen until summer. So we try to go about twice a month during the summer.

*I know you all love this pic. Don't be fooled by the color. It is pink. That is the only color I turn. This might be my I have been in the sun way too long face.

2. BBQs

Ok as I was thinking about this maybe I should put having more friends in town. Remember the camp I worked at where I met my gay husband? Well a lot of our new friends we made I met at that camp or from keeping in touch with people. For example gay husband kept working there and new people got hired and some of them we awesome and I met during get togethers during the summer. Anyways, they are all younger and are still in college which equals me missing them and having no life when they are away at school. So when summer rolls around and they come back into my life it brings a lot of joy and laughs.

I’m sure you know by now when of my favorite things to do is have people over to eat. Hubby is am amazing cook and I just enjoy the time and conversation while eating.

Summer time and BBQs just go together. Something about having a BBQ makes the day longer and more relaxing.

I am definitely looking forward to having some beach time and BBQs this summer!

Top 2 Tuesday and Wishful Wednesday

I couldn't resist Top 2 Tuesday this week. Baby names!!! Because Hubby and I have been together 6 years we have run out of things to talk about and have started discussing baby names. Mostly we just make up ridiculous names and I fear for our future child. Let me state for the record we are not pregnant. This is all Taylor's idea to do baby names and I couldn't resist.

Please don't get offended if I don't like your name for my baby please! I wouldn't get offended if you didn't like my name or the names I like.

Hubby's initials are CMH and mine are MCH. I already have middle names picked out for boy or girl. Boy- Curtis, Girl- Marie. So if we had a boy his initials would be _CH and a girl would be _MH so I figure why not keep up the tradition and do a boy's name that starts with an M and girls name that starts with a C.

I would give my daughter my middle name, Colleen. So her name would be Colleen Marie or Colie for short. Colleen is not on the top 100 popular names for 2009 so I'm a fan. I'm very into the nickname being just as good as the name. Hubby likes the name Natalie but I don't like it because the shortened version is Nat. Hubby didn't veto Colleen like he did my all time favorite name Izabelle (Belle) so we will see. Guessing the dog will be named Belle. As a backup I made up the name Catalie. Has the C and the atalie he liked. Obvi just kidding here people. I think girls names are so much easier. There are lots of adorable girl names and others that start with C.

Now to the boys name. I am stuck on Matthew Curtis. Matt for short. It has gone down in popularity, but not as unpopular as I would like. It was number 11 in 2009. In 1990 Megan was 11th popular and I always had another Megan in class with me. Hubby has also not vetoed this.

When we were talking about names that start with M, Hubby said, "Magic for boy or girl." He was joking, but I think until we know if it is a boy or girl that is what the baby will go by.

I have around 5 friends/family members who are pregnant with boys right now. We also already have a couple little boys running around. This morning I was thinking maybe Hubby and I will go old fashioned and not find out until the little one arrives. I want to have gender neutral stuff and I don't know if something is lost when you announce on facebook what you are having and the name. Just a thought I had.

Wishful Wednesday...
This Wednesday's topic is...I wish I could have worn_________dress on my wedding day.
Obvi I cherish, adore, love my wedding dress. But it is wishful Wednesday and going online bridal gown shopping is fun! So here is what I would pick if I had to do it over again, I think. It has a lot of the elements my dress had but I think this beading would show more in pictures and is all over. I like the mermaid look too. I feel like you would need a pretty fancy wedding to wear this Lazaro dress. It was $$ at Kleinfeld's. I don't know how much that is.

My #2 favorite movie is

Dirty Dancing!

I was going to say Notebook but I think I would get bored and depressed if I watched it too much. I could never get bored of Dirty Dancing. It is the ultimate love story and has amazing dancing.

favorite recipes

I'm participating in Top 2 Tuesday!

In my opinion we eat really good over here at casa de Megs7827. But Hubby and I are also picky/boring eaters. We also have topic secret recipes. Hubby uses my Nana's recipe to make the best cookies on the planet! People regularly beg us for the recipe. I posted on facebook last night "who likes Hubby's cookies?" And these are the responses I got: "U KNOW WE DOO", "They are the best cookies in the world!", and "I do! I do!! I do!!! I do!!!! I do!!!!! I do!!!!!! I do!!!!!!! Can The Big Guy take a hint?". Our neighbor asked if he put concentrated orgasms in them.

It was so hard to pick our two favorite recipes. I was yelling from the other room, "If you had to eat two recipes the rest of your life what would they be." But he couldn't pick. We love to marinate chicken or steak and bbq it. Costco has the best chicken, flank steak, and tri tip. We use the Yoshida's marinade they sell there. Hubby loves their shrimp prawns for bbq or pasta. We are going to start eating more salmon from Costco as well. He broilers it in lemon and spices or bbqs it in aluminum foil. We love our taco Thursday. He make the white corn tortillas by putting them in a pan of evoo to get them kinda crispy. We cook the chicken in Lawry's chicken taco seasoning. We use Knorr's Spanish rice. He puts beans. Costco mexican cheese, sour cream. Sometimes I do lettuce and red onions or green onions. Yumm! He also makes calzones from pillsbury's pizza dough. Some marinara, cheese, pepperoni, folds it over and cooks each side for 10 mins then 5 mins. Those are just some ideas you can play around with. Here are some recipes that you can follow the steps on:

I like the first recipe because it has all your food groups, is cooked in one pan, is quick, and healthy!

Chicken and Rice with Vegetables

You will need:

1 tbsp. oil

1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into strips

3 cups cut up vegetables (we do broccoli and carrots)

14 1/2 ox can chicken broth

1 cup minute brown rice

1 cup minute white rice

Italian dressing (this is a kraft recipe so that what they recommend, we use Olive Garden's)

Heat the oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Add chicken. Add vegetables after chicken looks pretty close to cooked. Cook and stir for 3 to 5 mins. Stir in broth. Bring to a boil. Add brown rice and dressing. Cover and cook 5 mins. Add white rice and water if needed. Cover and cook 5 mins. Check to make sure rice is cooked. Serve!

Hubby and I love PF Changs lettuce cups. So I was excited when I found this recipe because it sounded yummy and easy. Which it is!

Caesar Lettuce Cups

You will need:

1lb chicken

salt and pepper

2 cloves garlic minced

1tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

iceberg lettuce

Cook chicken in frying pan. Season with salt and pepper. Add garlic, then Worcestershire sauce and cheese. Separate cups of lettuce. Scoop mixture into leaf. Optional add croutons or red onion. Serve!
