It is the last one!
We left off with Hubby asking me if he could take me out to dinner on Friday night.
I said, "Of course! You want to take me out on a real date? How sweet!"
You know how college boys are, they like to do the "hang out" thing and rarely take girls on dates. So I figured that is what Hubby and I were doing. I was so surprised when he wanted to take me on a date!
I don't remember what I wore that night. I don't really remember getting ready. I think Hubby showed up on time and rang the doorbell. I think my roommate answered the door. I remember walking to the door and he had something behind his back. It was a dozen red roses!!! I had never had a boy bring me flowers on a first date! My roommate said, "I knew he was going to bring flowers!"
We went to a little family owned Italian restaurant in downtown Chico. Sadly it is no longer in business. But when we lived there it was one of our favorite places. We like restaurants that give you bread.
I remember conversation being easy. I remember him slurping his linguine with marinara. Guys, just a tip, I wouldn't eat pasta on a first date if you are a slurper. But I think I must have already been in love, because I didn't care.
I don't remember what else we did that night.
It was the best first date I ever had. It was our anniversary that we celebrated for 5 years together. Today we will not say happy anniversary to each other because we have a new anniversary, our wedding anniversary!
Christian wife. Mom to 4 yo and 1 yo twins. All boys. Still try to take pictures, plan a good party, look put together and blog.

Six years ago today (special Saturday edition)
Oh I forgot to mention yesterday that we don't really consider any of these an anniversary. I thought it was weird when I did the NYE post and people said Happy Anniversary. Um, happy anniversary of your husband ignoring you at a party? Yeah I try not to think about that! I'm not sure if we will still celebrate our dating anniversary. Its been six years people! We are kind of over it. I forgot about our three month wedding anniversary. Ok on with the epic love story!
So, Hubby called me. Even though both Hubby and his best friend at the time were showing interest in me, I was not looking for a relationship. I always give other people looking for love the advice that it will happen when you aren't looking for it. Because that is what happened to me. I was focused on school and having fun with my friends. So Hubby was trying to chat it up with me and I was trying to get him off the phone. Also the reason I tease him and say I never actually gave him my phone number. I told him to call R at her apartment. I started to give him the number when I remembered he probably had it since his ex girlfriend lived there. Yeah, awkward!
So I got off the phone with him and talked everything over with my roommates. They were dying to know which boy I liked. I am the total drama queen and I remember rolling on the kitchen ground because the whole situation was awkward and I did not want to be any part of it. Plus my roommates and I were weird and rolled on the ground frequently. Best friend at the time had some major minus points. He had a two week dating rule and some other problems. Hubby had the minus point of his ex girlfriend being an acquaintance and living just down the street from me. I had two, count em, two previous boyfriends that went back to their ex girlfriends. I was a little convinced it was my curse. Did not want to get involved in drama with an acquaintance and didn't want to send another one back to their ex. I decided to see what would happen that night roller skating.
Well, best friend at the time didn't show up. So it ended up being a double date. Oh I should mention, we weren't regular roller skaters. I think R and her boyfriend wanted to go cause they hadn't been in a long time. We haven't been since. Anyways, Hubby totally swept me off my roller skates! He held my hand during couples skates. He told the dj it was my birthday. He told me his was totally over his ex. Bought me a slurpee.
Then we decided to go back to my apartment and watch a movie. Hubby put his arm around me while we were watching the movie. I don't remember where R and her boyfriend were sitting. I just remember that best friend at the time showed up and sat on the other side of me. It was beyond awkward! Then there was a stand off! R and her boyfriend left after the movie. So I was stuck with the two boys and it felt like they both thought whoever stayed last would end up with me. I know, you are surprised I'm still alive!
Best friend at the time finally left! Hubby and I watched MTV and talked until 6am. You know how the videos and the intro are different in the morning. It is called like jump start or something. Yeah it changed to that and I was like um bed time!
We continued to hang out throughout the week. Then he asked me if he could take me on a date on Friday night. I will continue with when he picked me up for our date next week!

Six years ago today
If you need a refresher go here and if you need to go further back the link is there.
My roommates and I were having a great time at a friend's apartment. My friend R called and wanted to hang out. So she, her boyfriend, and Hubby came over.
I must have been looking good that night because Hubby and his best friend at the time were both flirting with me.
The details are fuzzy due to my memory and having some drinks that night. I remember there wasn't too much going on at the friend's apartment so we decided to go over to best friend at the time's house. We all crammed in Hubby's car. He hadn't been drinking. Don't worry. He had a two door. R and her boyfriend crammed in the back. Some how her cell phone fell out of her purse or something. We hung out some more. Hubby showed a little interest in me. Best friend at the time showed a little interest in me. We then made plans to all go roller skating the next day.
Later R realized she had lost her phone and started calling Hubby from my phone. Maybe she was using her boyfriend's phone for the number and mine to dial. I swear none of this was planned. Unless Hubby and R planned it. But anyways, she gave him my number to call back on to discuss the phone.
The next day, Hubby called me...
to be continued tomorrow!

6 years and a couple months ago

I was going to start my 6 years ago today posts on New Years Eve, mostly because I hadn't thought about it until after the date I first met Hubby had passed. But then, my co worker asked me this question today: (note-names may have been changed to protect people's identities)
F [7:27 AM]:
HUBBY SAID YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM FIRST TIME YOU LOOKED @ HIM... IS IT TRUE?
Meagan [7:29 AM]:
YOU GUYS ARE FUNNY
F [7:29 AM]:
IS IT TRUE
Meagan [7:30 AM]:
I WOULDN'T SAY FELL IN LOVE. HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND. ITS WEIRD THAT WE BOTH VIVIDLY REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME WE MET. THERE WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAT HAPPENED
F [7:30 AM]:
AWW
Meagan [7:31 AM]:
WHY ARE YOU ASKING? CAUSE YOU ARE COMPARING YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO OURS OR CAUSE YOU CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE COULD FALL IN LOVE WITH HIS FACE?
F [7:32 AM]:
HES GOT A PRETTY FACE
Meagan [7:32 AM]:
LOL I KNOW
Meagan to Hubby:
F SAID, “HUBBY SAID YOU FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM FIRST TIME YOU LOOKED @ HIM... IS IT TRUE?”
Hubby [7:31 AM]:
?
Hubby [7:31 AM]:
F IS ON CRACK
Hubby [7:31 AM]:
BUT THATS PROB TRUE
I thought this was funny and I have been waiting for some funny work conversations to post on here. But now I have to explain the first time we met.
The story begins my freshman year of college. I was a liberal studies major. This is the major you should choose if you want to be an elementary school teacher or if you want to take easy classes. I think you all know, I was the first one, but didn't mind the second part. As a freshman you have to take some general ed classes, but there are some teachery versions of some general ed classes as well. I chose to take the teachery versions whenever I could. The first day of my teachery biology class I sat down by some girls that looked nice. We started talking about what year we were and where we lived. I found out one of the girls lived in the same "village" as me. I said, "We should be friends!" (yes I am a dork, but that is why this girl, you, and everyone else love me) *fate moment-honestly that isn't something I would normally say and didn't say to anyone else I met in my classes.
Trying to keep the story short so hang with me I hope you don't get confused. The girl I met in bio, lets call her R, and I did become friends. We had several classes together and lived really close to each other (oh Uncle Chris, if you are reading this, you know who R is). She took another teachery psych class with a girl named B and they too became friends. When we were all deciding where to live *fate moment-my friends and Rs friends coincidentally decided to live in the same apartment complex down the street.
Through the year we became friends, R would mention her friend B. We talked a lot and she told me about her roommate and some of their other friends too. She mentioned B's boyfriend and things they were up to in their classes. Our sophomore year, R had a birthday party (it was in September, that is why it is 6 years ago and a couple months).
I don't know if you all know this, but I have a terrible memory. For example: watching SYTYCD last night (fyi: why can't my favorite dancer ever be America's favorite dancer?) I didn't recognize some of the people in the top 20 or some of the dances they did and I swear I watched every episode.
So knowing the fact that I have a terrible memory, what I am about to say is weird! We went out a lot in college. Lost of people had birthday parties. We took lots of pictures. Maybe I remember a lot of the details because we took pictures that night, I don't know. But I remember what I was wearing, how I did my hair, etc. I remember walking into my friend's kitchen and being introduced to B's boyfriend, Hubby! I also remember thinking, "Wow! He's hot!". You guys know, you have seen his pictures ;). But I was no longer in the business of home wrecking so I think I took some jello shots and continued on my merry way.
Hubby remembers this night too. That is why we say it was love at first sight. He remembers meeting me and thinking I was pretty. But he doesn't remember meeting any of my roommates (that is pretty strange because they were pretty hot!). Trippy huh?!
Things at this point were not so great with B and Hubby. R and Hubby told me later that R and her roommates got in a fight that night and Hubby and B also had some words. I don't know when she started being sketchy with another guy or when they officially broke up, but it was around this time 6 years ago. Look for the next part of our story on New Years Eve!
