So Christmas Eve morning, Dad ate breakfast with the in-laws and I and then was off to see his favorite child, the dog. Hubby's fam and I had plans to meet up with some family friends at the bowling alley. I don't think I shared with you the amazingness that is my bowling technique. The first time I went bowling this decade was for our work christmas party this year. I got a 52 and was made fun of the whole next day. So I was given some pointers by dear old Dad and figured around friends and family I might do better. I started off with an amazing 92. Then I struggled and had a 78. In the last game I had a 110 in the 8th frame, and they shut the game off!! Hubby did better than at the holiday party too. I had fun spending time with our friends and family.
Then we had to go back to the house and get ready for Christmas Eve dinner. The amazing cook that is my mil made a prime rib roast, roasted potatoes, and garlice sourdough bread. We are so spoiled! I must have started watching A Christmas Story at 10 because I didn't finish watching it until 12. I had never seen it before and Hubby's family loves it. I love it now too and hope it is a tradition we continue. You have to see it once so you know what is going on, cause its a crazy movie. But waking up Christmas morning and turning it on while we wait for the parents to wake up was probably my favorite.
As I said, I watched Christmas Story until midnight. Then we went to bed so Santa didn't skip our house because we were awake. We woke up around 9:30 and went out to the stocking room. Brother (in law) was already awake and playing Madden. Then the parents got up shortly after and we opened our stockings.
Then we had home made cinnamon rolls and bacon for breakfast. Another new tradition I am a fan of was mimosas! Then we opened presents. We realized we were running a little behind when Aunt K and cousin M came over. They told us they weren't going to come over until around 1 and we thought we would have been gone by then. Not still unwrapping presents in our pjs!
We finished up presents and raced to get showered and packed up. That was my least favorite part. I wish we could lolly gag and get to everyone's houses. I don't know how people do more than two houses in one day!
The drive to my cousin J's wasn't too bad. The hubby and I kept ourselves entertained while singing duets to Christmas songs. Dad was already at J's cause he figured out like I did that the stepbrother (dog) is boring. My cousin K has a 9 month old that is the pride and joy of the family. We all adore him and love to make him smile. I think Hubby was a little bored with the baby. He says hi to him and stuff but doesn't really get into the loud noises and cooky faces the rest of us do.
Then on Boxing Day (Canadian holiday, have I mentioned I am half Canadian?), we had "Christmas morning" with my parents. We did stockings again and had cinnamon rolls again, and opened more presents!
Then I took Hubby to get his H1N1 shot. We went to Target for some cheap wrapping paper and labels. We met up with the high school friends again. This time two of the boys we were friends with that hadn't come last time were able to join us. Love catching up with everybody and hearing who is divorced, getting married, having babies, etc.
Then we had to leave dinner and get home since we were leaving early in the morning. We had a wonderful Christmas. So glad we were with family. I loved making new traditions with Hubby and I hope all the families become closer as the years go on.
Christian wife. Mom to 4 yo and 1 yo twins. All boys. Still try to take pictures, plan a good party, look put together and blog.

My Christmas Vacation part 1
*picture of Hubby and I at my cousin's house for Christmas dinner. The Hubby and I started our vacation at 4am Saturday the 19th. We live in so cal and our parents live in nor cal. So cal has the worst traffice ever so we leave at 4 am. We avoid traffic and get there around 11 am and we somehow don't feel too tired.
We got to my parent's house and had lunch. We love getting Papa Murphys pizza. They don't have any near where we live. We finally got to watch our wedding video! I loved being able to see what the guys were up to while we were stuck in a room getting ready. Then we went to dinner at Latitudes in Auburn. It was pretty good. Best part was the mandarini! Came back to the house and played Scategories. I won by only one point!
The next day Mom, Hubby, and I headed to the mall for some last minute shopping. I thought it was going to be crazier than it was. Then we went to lunch with my old high school friends. There were 12 of us including my friends' babies. I hadn't seen one of the girls for about a year and hadn't seen her baby yet. I think seeing them was my favorite part. Then the hubby left me! He went to his parents house for a few days. My mom and I wrapped some presents and I watched tv with my dad.
The next day I drove my mom to work and met my dad at the hospital. He got the H1N1 shot because people are saying it is going to come back in January. Then he went to Target with me to return some wedding presents. He also tried to get me a H1N1 shot at CVS. They acted like they ddin't know what that was. Then Dad went back to work and I went to the grocery store. While my dad was working he found out there was an urgent clinic by Target that had the H1N1 shot. So that evening we went to pick my mom at from work and got me the H1N1 shot and went shopping for the hubby.
The next day I relaxed and hung out with my step brother (the dog my dad got to replace me).
Wednesday (aka the night before the night before), my dad worked a half day so he could drive me up to see Hubby and go to the night before the night before party. It was crazy as always. My least favorite part was when some of the men were talking about going sky diving with my dad. Before my dad got married he went a few times. My opinion is you shouldn't be jumping out of airplanes when your one and only daughter hasn't given you grandchildren yet. My dad decided around 11pm that he was going to stay the night. My mom and I wanted him to stay the night as soon as we found out he was going to the party. So we all stayed up until 2am or so. The next morning I was shocked that my dad wasn't the first one awake. My whole life he has woken up early. He can stay up to 11pm or so and be up around 5 or 6. I didn't hear a peep from him. So I decided at 9:45 I was going to wake him up. Such a nice daughter :)! He was awake by then.
To be continued on Jan 4th...

Work Christmas Tree
Here is a picture of our Christmas tree at work. I took the net off and then my friend just started wrapping stuff around it. We have been teased constantly about not shaking it out first. Oh well, we love it! I am at my parents house this week. So glad I am blogging in pjs today and not at work staring at that Christmas tree.
Tomorrow my dad and I are driving up to the Hubby's parents' house for a night before the night before party. I don't know if I have mentioned it on here before, but we are so lucky our parents get along. Our families have gone on camping trips together for a few years now. My parents have gone to Thanksgiving dinners. My parents got to meet a lot of their friends at the rehearsal dinner. So my dad was excited to get an invite to the party. My poor mommy has to work Christmas Eve and Christmas.
I might get a post in tomorrow, but I'm sure Hubby will be hogging my time and the computer when I am at his parents house. So I will see ya when I see ya frogs! Merry Christmas!!!

The Newlywed Game: 2 month anniversary!!
Two months! Last month our moms emailed us happy 1 month anniversary, I emailed my mil back and said, "It feels like its been 6 years." This is because we have been together about 6 years. So its kind of a joke with all of us. It is true though!Maybe crazy is going to be the theme of our marriage, but the first month was crazy and the second one has been too! We celebrated our first Thanksgiving together. Found out that it is an important holiday that should be spent with our families and will never be doing a friends Thanksgiving again.
We celebrated the Hubby's birthday for the first time as a married couple. I was so excited to be able to buy one of the Hubby cards! His aunt sent him/us a book called The Love Dare. It is a Christian 40 day challenge for married couples to have a better relationship. We read the dare for day 8 last night. So far things have been going good. The one thing I don't like about it is it asks you to think of negative things about your spouse. There was one day you had to pick 3 things that embarrassed or irritated you about your spouse and discuss them without defending yourself or arguing. We did that one and it was ok. We are now kind of working on not doing the things that bug each other. Day 7s dare was to make a list of positive things and negative things and hide them. We didn't do this dare. Honestly I don't want to make a list of negative things and hide it from him. I feel like if we had done it I would have tried to find his list and probably would have been hurt by it. Day 8 said to burn the list. Why have someone make it in the first place? So if you pick up this book you can know that ahead of time and choose not to do it if you want.
Get ready I am going to type the c word...
CHRISTMAS!
Don't know if you guys have noticed, but I have been avoiding the whole winter/holidays topic. I think everyone else is doing enough blogging about it for me. I am not Scrooge or the Grinch. Love Christmas, but I think that is about all you need to know.
Well, and this: We are going home for Christmas! We are very excited and so blessed that we are able to take a week off work to spend up North with our families. This is again a first as a married couple. In the past when we were dating we would travel up together but would spend time apart and together. I went back and forth in my head trying to decide if this should change now that we are married. While we were dating we were not a couple that spent all their time together. I would travel home without him for different reasons and we have girls or guys nights apart.
I think we have decided to spend some time apart during this trip. Personally I think it is healthy to be a couple that spends time apart. I even think once we have kids we met still spend time apart. They can pick which grandparents or which parents they want to be with. I just kind of thought it would also be cute to be one of those old couples that has never spent a day without each other.
We are doing the holidays together which is new. I am excited/nervous. We will be at his families house Christmas eve and Christmas morning. I am excited to be with him for this, since I never have. I know there will be an awesome dinner Christmas eve. I am nervous about intruding on their Christmas morning. Its the first time a new person will be there!
My question to you all is when should the Hubby and I exchange our Christmas gifts for each other? We will be up North for about a week and like I said with his family Christmas Eve and Christmas morning and with my family Christmas night for dinner.
