Valentine's Day

My husband likes to recycle. I jokingly try to convince him he needs to get me some diamonds for having his baby. He tells me that some of the small ones in my engagement ring or wedding band count.

I have been avoiding discussing Valentine's Day with him because I fear it will lead to more sugary sweets in our house and I have gained 6.5 lbs in 2 weeks and there are more brownie bites and cupcakes to be eaten.

Last night he said, "So Olive Garden is going to be our Valentine's Day dinner?" I think we have like $95 in gift cards to Olive Garden. People know we love the Garden. I told him that I really don't care about Valentine's Day this year. We have been so lazy with the holidays lately but buying a house, moving, and making a person takes it out of you. Plus our birthdays and Christmas and Valentine's Day are so close together we get tired of buying each other stuff. Hubby was so sweet and after his 10 hour work day on my birthday stopped and got me flowers. The flowers are still looking good so he recycled and said the roses in the boquet were for Valentine's Day which I am totally ok with.

So do you feel bad for me now? Have I depressed you? This is what happens after being married for a year and are pregnant. You stop buying each other presents.

We are friends with a couple that has rules about looking good for each other and they eluded to something about not going to the bathroom in front of each other or something. She jokingly said something about being a stay at home mom and said, "I promise I won't get fat." Uh, I'm sorry but I like knowing if I get fat my husband will still love me. I want to get back to pre baby weight after the baby comes for myself and for him but he doesn't care. I wonder if they are going to get botox and facelifts too. "I promise I won't get wrinkles." Ugh! Gag me!

  1. Um- HOw can you NEVER see each other go to the bathroom? I guess we only had one bathroom until our current house. I dont want to get fat(ter) for ME, but I would never promise not to :)) ha.
I am curious about what is going to happen for Vday for us this year. I already got a card..and I think I may suggest we go out to dinner Sunday night. As you said, making a person takes a lot out of you!

  2. Haha, that sounds so funny. I cannot go to the bathroom in front of my husband. Or anyone. Stage fright much? Other than that, I know he loves me no matter what. I can't believe they feel like they have to look good all the time. We're not doing a lot of V-Day. Just staying in and having a special dinner.

  3. It must be exhausting having to look good for each other all the time!

Hubs and I are going to dinner Saturday night with the IL's for Valentine's Day. I got him a card and a box of candy, nothing big!

  4. I am not married yet but I have been with my boyfriend for almost five years and living with him for three years this Valentine's Day. He will only go to the bathroom in front of me if I am in the shower. But, we do have more then one bathroom. We are just going to dinner and then to movies.

Haha just kidding! I definitely don't need flowers on v-day, but a little something would be nice!
