- Remember awhile ago I blogged about needing a job. Most of you said you thought I should go back to substitute teaching. Well, that is what I decided to do. I don't know if you all realize what the life of a substitute teacher is like. First I had to get a school district to recommend me for getting fingerprinted. Then I had to pay $62 to get fingerprinted for this county. I have been fingerprinted in two-three other counties in the state. Yes, the state needs to figure out how to regulate this but its probably one of the few ways they actually make money so they aren't changing it. Then I have to fill out applications and get my test results from tests I have taken on my subject knowledge and if I have tuberculosis or not and my credential all together and take it in to the different districts. Then you wait. You wait for a call saying they need a substitute teacher. You don't know if you can do something with your friend on Friday, until Friday. You wake up and get ready in case they call. It is no fun!
- We will be owners of a house in 8 days! We bought a couch, love seat, coffee table, and two end tables last weekend. So excited that we will have nice furniture in our living room when you first walk into our house. I'm trying to be good and not spend all our emergency fund on new furniture. But I'm also ready to not have everyone's hand-me-downs and have a college looking place. Everyone is still trying to hand us down furniture though.
That is pretty much all that is going on around here. Let me know if you have something exciting going on that I haven't read about yet!
New furniture is so fun! I loved buying myself a new dresser a few months back...we are such grownups!
ReplyDeleteso exciting you will be a home owner in 8 days!! :) buying new furniture is always fun!! can't wait to see the new place and how you decorate it!
ReplyDeleteNew furniture is SO fun!! We still have not bought any. In fact the only room in the house with nice quality, new furniture...GUZZI's ROOM! I can't believe she got all new stuff before we even got new couches and bedroom set! I guess we have to start somewhere :) I had no idea that you had to get up and get ready and just wait for a call to sub. Have you gotten any calls yet?
ReplyDeleteYay!!!! So many new things going on!
ReplyDeleteI've been fingerprinted in Sacramento county 3 separate times. Yes, THREE. Seriously?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the subbing and moving!
Teachers are thankful for substitutes so even though it is such a pain to go through all that mess (I can't even imagine)...here is a big THANK YOU from a teacher! :)
ReplyDeleteYay for the new homeowners! Well, almost homeowners. :D
ReplyDeleteWe thrive on hand-me-downs and slowly but surely we save up our money for the really good stuff we like and sometimes don't really need since our whole house has been furnished by family. But when you want to get rid of something, it gets a bit tricky not stepping on some toes! Good luck with substituting, sounds like a world of fun :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's awesome that you'll be teaching and in your new home!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you decided to sub again! And yes, it is a pain and a half to get it all set up. What people don't know either is that it is a very thankless job but so worth it :)
ReplyDeleteSo exciting about your house, can't wait to see pics!
Hey, thanks! 3rd trimester is treating me pretty well so far. All 2 days of it :) Time is flying by though! Good luck with your new home. I'll have to check out the pics.
